FAQ

Hypnotherapy

1. Will I still be in control of myself?

This is what 80% of people are afraid of. They are terrified that if they really go fully into a trance like state that they will no longer be in control of themselves and can be easily controlled by the person that is hypnotising them.  Rest assured that you are still fully in control of yourself when you are hypnotised. You are still conscious, but your conscious mind is deeply relaxed.  No one can take control of you and make you do stupid things while you’re hypnotised unless you want to them to.

2.Is hypnosis safe?

Perfectly safe.  You are always in control of the situation and you are never unconscious.  Unlike drug therapies hypnosis has no possible side effects and in most people hypnosis always works unlike drugs which may work or may not work depending on your body’s chemistry and what the disorder is.  Hypnosis can safely treat the physical and mental aspects of common problems like addictions safely and can help you break your physical and emotional dependence on overeating, smoking, drinking, drama, anger, or any other destructive addition that you might have.

3. What happens if I can’t come out of hypnosis?

It is impossible for that to happen, because you are not unconscious at any point during the hypnosis.  You are in a deeply relaxed state but fully conscious and you can come out of that state at any time that you want to.  You can also come out of that state any time you wish or when given a verbal cue by the hypnotherapist. Sometimes when you get the verbal cue to come out of your hypnosis you may not want to because the relaxed state you are in feels so good.  When that happens it may take you a few minutes to return to your normal awareness but that is only because you want to stay in the relaxed state, not because you are being forced to stay in it or because you can’t come out of it on your own.  You are always in control, even when you are deep in a hypnotic state.

4.What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

5. How is a Reiki treatment given?

In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.

6. What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.
